Overview
During 1992, the Eagle Trading Card Co. issued their second series of airplane trading cards … Wings of Gold, Series II.
This series features an attractive set of airplane color artwork of aircraft from World War I, the Inter-War Years, and World War II.
Aircraft from the United States, Great Britain, Australia, Germany, Italy, and Japan are represented.
Sixteen of the cards show in-flight aircraft, usually in combat conditions, with the remaining two cards showing aircraft ready for take-off.
The 19th card in the set is the unnumbered Title/Check List card shown below.
The fronts of the 1992 Wings of Gold, Series II
cards feature attractive landscape color artwork surrounded by a thin black border.
Fifteen of the cards do not have any captions or titles on the card fronts.
The remaining 3 cards include the card’s title in white text over a black rectangular box positioned directly beneath the artwork.
The backs of the 1992 Wings of Gold, Series II
cards feature the following crisp presentation of descriptive text about the aircraft:
(1) The card number located in a black box on the ULH corner;
(2) the company logo located in the LLH corner;
(3) the set’s title, card title, and descriptive text are centered in a vertical stack starting at the top of the card;
(4) located directly beneath the descriptive is the aircraft’s designation followed by a table of basic design and performance data; and
(5) beneath that is an acknowledge line, followed by the copyright © tag line and the set’s series number.
