Background
The New England Confectionery Company, of Cambridge, MA, is better known by its initials … NECCO. This 1929 series of twelve hand-colored photographs of aircraft was packaged in various Necco products, such as; Necco Chocolate Peppermints, Necco Honeycomb, Necco Bolsters, Necco Caramello, Necco Cream Cakes, Necco Needum, Necco Cocoanut Cream, Necco Seal Mint Patties, Necco Chocolate Peanut Bar, and Necco Wafers. Each aircraft hard is captioned in a white border above the picture and with a credit line Courtesy of Aero Digest, New York at the bottom. The backs contain the card number and a short description of the subject aircraft, and also a brief advertisement for various Necco Candy products. The American Card Catalog number for the set is E195.
