Glendale Municipal Airport, Glendale, Arizona
Glendale Municipal Airport
When traveling, be sure to visit local Municipal Airports (MAP's). Many MAP's have "hidden treasures." For the Glendale Municipal Air Port, the "treasures" are not so hidden. Glendale MAP has several in "Plane" view. There is a "Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina" on the tarmac, which is actually a Canadian Vickers PBV-1A "Canso-A" (N413PB, sn CV343). There are also two MiG's; a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 "Fresco" and a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 "Fishbed" at the South end of the airport. The two MiG's are without markings, so the registration numbers are currently unknown to us. Anyone know them? AFIA ("A Friend In Arizona") recently visited the Glendale MAP and sent us the following series of "Walk Around" photos of these three aircraft. Canadian Vickers PBV-1A “Canso-A”, N413PB, sn CV343, at the Glendale MAP, Glendale, Arizona (Photos by AFIA) Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 “Fresco”, at the Glendale MAP, Glendale, Arizona (Photos by AFIA) Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 “Fishbed”, at the Glendale MAP, Glendale, Arizona (Photos by AFIA) A very special thanks to AFIA (A Friend in Arizona) for providing us with photos of the aircraft at this location.
