When passing through Dixon, Illinois, be sure to stop by and visit their newly completed Veteran's Memorial Park. Located at the intersection of Palmyra Road & Palmyra Street, on IL-2, this nicely presented, Veteran's Memorial Park is dedicated to the remembrance of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. The park includes two aircraft, an Army Bell AH-1G-BF “HueyCobra” (Army 67-15475, c/n 20139) and a USAF Republic F-105D-10-RE “Thunderchief” (AF 60-0455, c/n D143). The park also includes: (1) an Army M114A2 (155 mm) medium towed Howitzer, (2) an Army M-60 Main Battle Tank, (3) a Navy Mk. 2 Anchor, and (4) a September 11, 2011 Memorial Plaque.
